CORONAVIRUS/FLU – PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES
OLA LACROSSE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES IN RESPONSE TO CORONAVIRUS COVID-19 AND FLU – 3/12/2020
Commencing with games immediately and continuing until further notice, We will closely monitoring TPS, Jenks, Owasso, and the other school systems regarding their sports procedures and any cancelations – For Now the Oklahoma Lacrosse Association is implementing the following amendment to the standard game protocol.:
- The game will begin with the standard stick checks. Officials will wear latex gloves during stick checks to reduce the sharing of viruses from stick to stick and from picking up the virus themselves.
- During the coach’s and captain’s meetings, NO handshake will occur. Verbal good wishes and head nods will be standard good sportsmanship.
- At the conclusion of the game, players will line up as normal and will walk past each other but will not shake hands or touch each other. Verbal greeting and congratulations are encouraged instead.
Other points of emphasis:
- Players need to be conscious of the hands during team huddles and timeouts. “Sticks In!” should consist of only sticks and hand contact should be avoided.
- During substitutions, players should not touch hands. Stick to stick contact should be used instead.
- Scorers should bring their own pens & pencils.
- NO High Fives
- If a player, parent or coach has a fever or is suspected of being ill, they should stay home. A lacrosse game is not worth it and don’t infect others
- Players should bring their own water bottles and not share them with others. Team water bottles should not be used.
- Pick up & dispose of your own drink bottles...do not leave them at the bench.
- Wash your hands throughout the day and certainly before you eat or drink.
